Text Book Case

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a long-term pattern of abnormal behavior characterized by exaggerated feelings of self-importance, an excessive need for admiration, and a lack of understanding of others' feelings.[4][5] People affected by it often spend a lot of time thinking about achieving power or success, or about their appearance. They often take advantage of the people around them. The behavior typically begins by early adulthood, and occurs across a variety of situations.[5] As per Wikipedia.

  2. Maybe this is a dumb thing to be annoyed by, but it really pisses me off when she leaps to yet another sudden obsession and, without really paying her dues or getting her hands dirty, immediately adopts all the lingo of that particular hobby or profession and starts dropping it casually into conversations like an old hand.

I am a firm believer in learning the proper terminology for things you will be working with/around every day, but I feel like Jenna skips the learning experience and leaps straight for the street cred. As someone who goes about things the hard way--you know, actually putting in the hours of work so that I have the right to use the words and tools of my trade--this is very off-putting to me.

Case in point, she posts about Aya Cash again this morning (surprise!) in re: to the show "You're the Worst."

"If you're sensitive to hilarious people working blue--don't watch it."

As someone who isn't a stand-up comedian, I have actually never heard or used the term "working blue" and had to look it up. But Jenna drops it casually into her conversation so that someone will hopefully notice how cool and edgy she is for knowing comedian lingo. The same thing has happened with every other pursuit she has thrown herself into and then just as quickly abandoned. She learns all the slang and vocabulary to throw around, but has no intention of actually following through with the practice itself.

Big hat, no cattle. It just rubs me the wrong way.

    1. I find it fascinating how addicted she is to comedy, since she's lacking in humor. And her bandying about lingo is also annoying, too. I agree with what you wrote.

    2. You are so right! She has a terrible sense of humor and is not funny at all. It goes along with her boring personality. Even her compliments to celebrities are creepy. She is a sociopath who does not feel empathy or any other genuine feelings towards others. So she says what she thinks a normal person would say and it comes off completely contrived.

    3. Like when she uses "sounder" for a group of pigs. Her blogs are reminiscent of my 1st grade report on iguanas, going off whatever terms the encyclopedia provided. She doesn't have working knowledge of subjects, she makes that painfully apparent.

  4. "Sharing this, but I should note it was the Daughton family who traded their skills in construction for a milk goat that made my mews a $250 project and not a $2500 one! Also, the weathering area came from old zoo panels my friend Patty had in her barn. I don't want people to think Falconry is for the super wealthy - of which I am not!"

This accompanying a meme outlining costs for falconry gear.
    Mews and weathering: $2500
    Bells and bewits: $40
    Hood: $80
    Gauntlet: $90
    Scale: $175
    Annual permits and dues: $150
Jesses, leashes, whistles, lure, creance, etc: $200

Not listed is frozen chicks or whatever you need to feed the hawk. But the real kicker is time. Jenna wants to assure people that falconry isn't for the super wealthy but who else could spend nearly the entire month of September trying to trap a wild bird. While the rest of the world was plugging away making a living, Jenna was shambling around Washington County's back roads with nothing more pressing to concern her than finding a bird for her latest hobby. Training and caring for the hawk also has to be a major time investment. She doesn't want anyone to think she's wealthy but the supplies aren't exactly cheap. Especially not when you factor in this is not Jenna's only hobby. Buying an 8K pony and all the riding gear isn't nothing. Caring for him adds up even if she's doing just the bare minimum. It just seems to me she's rather clueless about about what a cushy life she's leading.

    1. We have a bird of prey rehabilitation center near our town and they would never recommend trapping a Red tail as a means to save the breed or increase survivability of juveniles. They are considered very common breed. Additionally, keeping a hawk indoors considered a negative because it isn't expsoed to the weather cycles that it would live in outdoors. It's actually doing a disservice to the animal and throwing off its seasonal timing by being indoors. I don't think any raptor expert would recommend that unless it was a severely ill bird.

  5. So she posted a Conan clip of Aya Cash talking about her hawk tramp stamp-- what a coinky-dink. Jenna seems to think this is kismet. The clip is from 2015. I don't believe for a second she was unaware of this and it didn't factor into her naming her hawk after the actress. Jenna's way too addicted to pop culture trivia and talk shows for this to have escaped her notice.

  6. Exactly, anon 8:36! Jenna knows how to manipulate any situation so it wouldn't surprise me if she knew about it and is faking surprise.
I also feel like she picks celebrities with the same hair color, just so she can hear the predictable "You look just like her!" ...she really did stop developing emotionally at about age 14, eh? I wonder what happened to her. That would be a book of hers I would read.

Unable to find work, she convinced the coal company to let her live in a box car that was broken down beyond repair. She installed a coal stove and set up long tables to feed the coal miners."

I need further proof that she helped feed the miners. I have a feeling she promised she would, and even set up the tables...but never did anything other than freeload off the coal company. Now we know where Jenna got it from! Hahaha I kid, I kid...

  15. I'm starting to get annoyed with all these digs at her appearance. It can be justified however you want, but if you wouldn't say those types of things to another woman you think has her life together, you shouldn't say them about her.

Who gives a rat's ass that she wears novelty contacts? It's no more conceited or stupid than a person wearing any other kind of colored contacts because at the end of the day it's for the same reasons. Is it ok to criticize her use of money considering how she's always asking for more, absolutely. Is the #partwolf thing stupid? Yes, that's part and parcel to her scamming, the idea that she's a feral mountain woman that doesn't need anyone and will pursue her dreams no matter what it takes when in reality she's a beggar that only gets to live the life she does from the naivete and kindness of others. People that she honestly hurt and broke promises and business agreements with.

So what if she's chubby, that doesn't mean she doesn't or can't run. People's bodies are different, even if you do work out a lot there isn't a template for how a runner looks.

I'm not saying you can't be petty, I'm hella petty and I think it's really funny and creepy how she makes all those lover comparisons and stuff to her dogs. I do think she has a creepy thousand yard stare when she's taking selfies.

She is selfish, entitled, a scammer, responsible for criminal animal neglect if not outright abuse. She is annoying, self-important, sanctimonious, and deserving of a great deal of derision and mocking. I know this site isn't just about accumulating evidence against her, it's also a place to vent frustrations and honestly make fun of her, which I'm generally ok with. I just think that we should possibly consider what we post more carefully occasionally.

Also the urine story above was hilarious Anonymous 5:52 and Anonymous 7:49.

    1. I agree. I could care less what she looks like, even though her selfies are rather alarming looking. It is her self-entitled, narcissistic, faux-feral, scam artist personality that gets under my skin. On top of which her weird and frighteningly immature references to herself as a wolf or part-wolf or whatever the hell she says, smacks of a preteen girl's adolescent fantasy after obsessing over Twilight movies. When we factor in her animal neglect, her laziness, her refusal to get a job while begging for handouts (or "donations" as she calls them), her unhealthy celebrity obsessions, and her poser personality, we really have plenty to talk about without bringing her appearance into the fray.

  19. Count me with those who find the body shaming out of line. Look at it this way: of all the things Jenna purports to be--scrappy homesteader, farmer, Heathen, falconer, horsewoman, etc.--the one claim she's never made is that she's a beauty queen. To the contrary, she often refers to herself as a hobbit. The fact is, she's perfectly nice-looking, although like many of us, in need of a better stylist. She's not trying to pass herself off as beautiful, pretty or even cute. So why make the dig?

So how did we end up here?

Aside from all the insane obsession with television and celebrities, it boils down to her trying to live off the money and kindness of strangers. Either through outright begging or subtle (and not so subtle) hints of wolves at the door, lack of firewood and feed, loss of electricity, etc.

Marketing to the same people over and over shows she is not interested in growing her business. She just wants people to hand over their hard earned money so she doesn't have to earn it herself.

    1. That's what I don't get! Based on Birchthorn alone, if people aren't going to be outwardly outraged, you'd think at the least there wouldn't be any 'atta girl' responses to her posts. I think these fans just blindly follow her without doing a bit of research.

    2. There have been a few on the original ColdAntlerSham site. They basically blamed the victim. They said you take a risk when giving people money over the internet. They said people should do their homework and if they lose money to someone then they should learn a lesson and move on.

I find this logic preposterous. Jenna, or any scammer, builds trust. People sending money up front are good people and believe they will receive what is promised. They are in no way to be blamed. The blame falls 100% on the person who takes money and fails to deliver.

That also holds true for the person pleading for money to keep the wolves from the door, then spending the money on frivolous purchases. Shame on them, not the donor.

  28. The latest post just depresses me. If these fans from Ontario are indeed real, they seem like such nice people. They reached out for a connection and even brought a thoughtful handmade gift. I generally don't think of people as undeserving of love, but Jenna really pushes that impulse in me. At the very least that level of thoughtful kindness is wasted on someone so selfish, though at least she thanked them. 2. I think she's making it all up too. Nothing does more to generate business than to show what you're selling. Why aren't there photos of these people making soap? She could do it in a way that protects their privacy...but if they're such fans wouldn't they love to have a photo of them featured on her blog? 29. Our precious snowflake is morphing once again. Funny how she has changed her story. It used to be I am a scrappy feral farmer scrapping a living off my scrappy 6 acres and now she has turned into a freelance graphic designer living on a farm with animals. I liked how she made it seem like a workday now is just like when she worked for corporate America. I really don't have a problem with her making a living off design work while living on a side of a scappy mountain while being her scrappy feral self if it pays the bills. I just cant stand when she cant pay the bills and then feels entitled to ask for money or makes up lies to get it. That makes me freaking crazy. And I do wish if she was going to freelance that she would do it with a professional website not sure why she hesitates? I mean if you weren't a fan how on earth would you know she was a graphic designer? And seriously how many "fans" need logos that pool has to be dwindling to a trickle. I am glad she is at least trying to make a living doing something more than begging but that whole post seemed like she was once again justifying her life. And I'm not sure she knows that CSA stands for 'community supported agriculture' - if you're selling services as part of your CSA, that's a bit bizarre, because the whole reason for a CSA is that everyone shares in risks *outside the farmer's control*, generally referring to the weather. The idea is that some years, the weather cooperates perfectly and there's a bumper crop; other years, there's a hurricane 3 weeks before harvest and everything gets lost. A CSA is designed to provide some continuity of income in the face of those variables, with folks receiving more that you'd expect for the price in good years, and less in bad. A CSA is not supposed to be a hedge against incompetence, and it is not supposed to be an internship program where you learn how to farm.

Any business transaction involves the risk that the other person will defraud you; that doesn't mean you agree to be defrauded anytime you do business with someone. Would it be ok for Amazon to just never ship you things you ordered? Or for your grocery store to copy your credit card number and randomly bill you for $50 every month? Someone justifying that with 'well, there are risks to giving someone your credit card number!' or 'obviously you really should have stayed on top of it more' would sound a little silly.

Clearly the people Jenna works with don't know how things work, and the ones that do are not requesting designs.

It's like paying a building contractor in full before the job is started or work performed. They would or should never do that, so why pay up front with Jenna?

What about a summer spent floating in the river rather than preparing for winter? What about the 6 acres of WOODS that she owns but is too lazy to harvest?

    2. It boils down to plain laziness. She doesn't want to do a damn thing to help herself. The only reason she asks for logo work is in hopes that those who do not need logos will just donate money to her. If someone happens to order a logo she just doesn't bother to do it.
Anyone notice in her Twitter post yesterday about what she does in a day how she mentioned only eating one meal a day?
Typical Jenna hoping someone will ask why or suggest that she should eat more. Total set up for her to say "I just can't afford to eat more than one meal a day right now...." Her ebegging has become so predictable!

    3. Yep, that is just the sort of passive-agressive expression of life on the scrap heap she's into!

Does it bug anyone else to run into yet another "this" as the most beloved modifier of Snowflake Jenna? - this farm and this mountain being her old standby favs. There are surely many other examples...I feel like I'm forever muttering another give me a flipping break (though that could likely be in response to 90% of her sentences!).

Can't pull together the words for what exactly she is doing beyond being pretentious and using the word to add a dollop of SPECIAL designation and regard to what she holds most close to her - but its use is distancing, "look at me" signalling, and dirties up her already aggravating pronouncements about her little fictional life. Most of the time using "the" or "my" would read so much more like a normal, non-swollen-headed person would describe parts of their world.

Even though she is not in any given instance comparing the mountain or farm (haha, how about hill and unused piece of scrappy, rural property) making "this" significant as compared to "that", I suppose its use implies, or actually insists, that whatever is associated with her is specific, "not that", unique and, of course, superior.

I along with one other poster that I know of have had 1:1 dealings with JW. We've posted on them here and on other sites. They remain on the other sites, but disappear from this blog site. She has chosen to no longer post. I also know someone that tried posting when you first started this blog about an email received from JW, but her post went poof. She never stopped back or at least I don't think she did-I've never seen her log in name again. She posted with her real name-not as anonymous. I'm not sure, but it would be interesting as to how many on this blog have had real live 1:1 with JW. A show of hands of how many have had money stolen and have not had their product delivered? I'm one, my friend who stopped posting about a month ago is two and the friend who posted just once with real name is three. So, three posters all with real live information who can warn people about shams posting, posts go poof! Instead front page- Jenna saw a movie, OMG, Textbook Case, Hawk Lives Matter, Live Like Fiction and Another Week More Stupid. Just one thread about scams- the old wool scam from what 2008 or 2010? Which is well and good because that thread actually has good content. Although once again I contributed to it and several of my posts went poof. I've tried keeping a copy and reposting over several days- no luck. It's sad too because this site is losing real live people who have been scammed who can share their stories and provide legitimacy to ongoing complaints. I'm not sure what it was with this blog? I've posted on Meredith's site, and the ColdAntlersham site and never had posts disappear. Maybe it's your settings?filter? I don't swear in my posts or post links. It's o.k. with me however you want to run the site, I'm sure the people who stop here to ruminate her blog posts everyday appreciate a place to vent. But it also needs to be balanced out some with legitimate complaints, legitimate shams and the people who have been shammed for real by JW. These legitimate posts are what warn people not talk about hair extensions or wolf eyes or just reviews of the days FB and Twitter rants/posts. I won't be posting here anymore, because I don't have the time to waste posting vital information or my experience and then having it disappear. You may want to look in your emails for posts I've made that reviewed a workshop I attended, a book review I made, an email message between JW and I a year ago, and the information about a logo I requested made, but never received and the latest (made yesterday) Birchthorn update. That's all I have. Good Luck to everyone past and present who has been scammed by CAF's JW.

  47. Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Text Book Case":

I used to post here when the site first started. I stopped when I noticed Jenna seems to benefit quite well from sites like these. If she's done something wrong, or said something wrong/ or misspells something this site points it out and she corrects it.

If this site says she is pop culture more than agriculture no biggie she changes her profiles to reflect that. On FB she has already stated she talks more about pop culture than farming. She has written many posts in the last two months that almost debunk this site and since no one but a few come forward with any real proof. Well who looks better? Someone who is a published author with people who don't like her? Or a bunch of anonymous posters who are reposting her blog posts and laughing over her appearance and recalling people in the past (2 years or more) who haven't received Birchthorn yet.

Since none of you posted her recent update, I'm guessing no one here backed Birchthorn. Am I right? Public people all over the internet have haters. The more she can correct, and its usually really little things pointed out to her by all of you, the better off she is in the eyes of her real fans.

She's trying and to her fans and friends that's all that really matters. By the way in case someone tries to spin that I am Jenna, I'm not. I'm just someone who backed Birchthorn, that's all.

I usually pop in to see if anyone is posting things that are really happening or that have been personally done to them by Jenna. Not much of that here. Has anyone besides me asked themselves why that is? There is like what 4 people who have been personally affected by scams by Jenna posting here regularly. Two or three don't post anymore because their posts are deleted.

Most of the time it's easier. Occasionally shit goes haywire. That's life. There's no grand conspiracy of secret tin-foil-hat-wearing people anywhere plotting to remove a few random transactions here and there. Unless you think you're REALLY special, like JW maybe?

I'm always curious about people like you who are so fast to throw out tin foil hats -etc. You do know even as crazy as conspiracies sound, it's a proven fact that all of them have the teeniest tiniest grain of truth to them, right? It's a disservice to everyone, including those contrary to your opinion, to group them all as Jenna posting or some crazy person wearing a tin foil hat. People are going to disagree with you. I mean it's the internet and shit goes haywire sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Now you all know why I and I'm guessing Julie stopped hosting blogs for this purpose.

All comments are emailed to the blog host. Sometimes I received dozens or up to a hundred or so a day. I never actually used the blog unless I was responding to a comment. Unless I was told I had no clue if a comment was emailed but did not post (or remain) on the blog. The way this blog and mine was set up WE CAN'T censor comments so it's not fair to accuse HD of that. If she deletes a comment it will show a "deleted comment" placeholder where the comment was. This blog does not require comment approval before posting.

Going through emails copying and pasting for a commenter takes time, especially if one has to compare posted comments to emails to see which one it is that is missing...if it's an anonymous poster frankly it's a huge pain in the ass.

As far as commenting on hair extensions and wolf eyes, I do think it is relevant. If a person is constantly crying poor and needing money for hay, firewood and mortgage, then spends her money on the above mentioned items, donors or potential donors need to know how their money is being spent.

  53. Just wanted to comment for some time now (like a couple winters ago) on JW's wood heat situation and some of the reasons her house won't stay warm.

I'm glad she finally realized (d'er) that heat rises, and installed a door to keep the heat downstairs instead of upstairs.

When she first got that wood stove, the bun baker, I noticed right off the bat that it is sitting right next to a huge glass door/window. All the heat is going out the window. It looks like there are no curtains at all on that window. She should put up insulated curtains or even just a quilt and it would keep the heat in.

The other thing I notice is that her living room is not large at all. A stove that size should more than heat the downstairs of her house. I have a wood stove at one end of my house and it heats half of it. Doesn't quite reach down the hall to the bedrooms, but one thing I do that she could do is use fans.

I have a ceiling fan and a large stand-alone fan next to the wood stove to push the heat into the other rooms. Another thing I do is turn on the furnace fan to circulate the heat all through the house. I don't turn on the furnace heat cycle, JUST the fan.

If she did these things; made more judicious use of fans, her furnace fan (if it has one-I don't know) and insulated her windows that place would be a snap to heat.

She can buy a ceiling fan and get it installed with the money she would save on heat that she now loses.

      Delete
    2. Why not observe while feeding? You can still tell if a sheep is not its normal self. You can still see if feed is left over cause you should be cleaning it out of the feeder. And once everyone is fed and content you can quietly and patiently tend to that limping goat instead of listening to a farm full of critters scream their heads off for food.

It shouldnt take her but 10-20 minutes to feed that few of animals. Heck, I fed and watered 50 sheep in the same amount of time.

Never been able to figure out why she makes such a production and show of a morning routine, and one many children do before getting ready for school. But then my place is set up for efficiency not blog fodder.

Oh, by the way, I ambled out into the cold unforgiving grey of early morning, fog nestled over the farm, coffee in hands wrapped in mittens from wool I shorn myself, spun in those warmer days of a bygone season and knitted by firelight just last week, and fed a chicken.

Pictures anyone? Have you attended a workshop and seen abused or neglected animals? How about her hawk or hawks, has anyone followed through and contacted the correct agencies to inquire or report abuse?

I live on the other side of the country on a fixed income so I'm not able to look into things or attend hearings and such. Has anyone, especially those local, seen or heard anything that warrants an investigation or call to authorities and if so are you willing to move forward with it?
