Lord, Help Us All!

.....and I'm not even religious! People on her Facebook are encouraging Jenna Woginrich....our own Special Narcissistic Snowflake....to get into politics. I would vote for a wild raccoon before I would......

  1. lolol! I saw that, too. This guys been friends with Jenna for a few years and said "you always struck me as a strong, capable individual".

Funny, I came away with the opposite conclusion. If it weren't for a small army of people that do the most basic stuff for her, to say nothing of flinging money at her, the entire CAF empire would collapse in less than a day. I mean, she can't even build a DIY chicken tractor. Also, please, Jenna's way, way too thin skinned to ever enter politics. She does have the lying part down pat, though, I'll give her that.

  2. Oh my god I hope she takes him seriously and running for office becomes her new obsession! Yes I am a glutton for punishment. It would put a new spin on this shitshow.

  3. Well, I think she's got some skills that would make her a very "good" politician. She likes to take other people's money, spend it frivolously, and tell tall tales about why every one else is to blame for her troubles and she needs more money to fix it.

  4. We've already seen that in America anyone can become president - that's the problem.

  5. Sadly, it just shows, yet again, how completely gullible, easily impressed, unable to discern fact from fiction and totally stupid so many people are. If you told them the earth was square and gave enough BS reasons they'd probably believe it.

JW is not even qualified to be dog catcher. Maybe a cage cleaner, but it would be a stretch...too hard.

  10. Bleech...she's so out there edgy - aka a creep, gross and a total embarrassment to herself. She is too close to her own perceived special snowflakiness - with no feedback coming from much of anywhere - that she's clueless re the depth of her inappropriate and unpleasant nature, commentary, behavior (and likely body odor). But she's a FARMer and animals stink - get over it, people...and if you don't like my politics, get outta the room - says JW...(but don't let the door slam on your donations, peeps!).

She's some piece of fruitcake. You can chip a tooth on it it's so stale, and choke on it's dryness - and watching the unpleasant slab of it still sitting on the table has turned me into as mean and intolerant a cuss as she is! Not the first time I've thought and said it or rued her and her barnheart baloney. I truly, deeply wish I had never made this particular, unfortunate turn on the dirt road following my love of reading about homesteading and country life. What a bummer.

Lord Zoltar, the god poles call upon you by the blood of the last pig processed at CAF, bring in more money to this here farm. Sqaush the shamsters who dare to defile Thy creation, imbue Thy sister Jenna with wood, food, booze and all that she desirest. In Thy pumpkin power, carve and smash all naysayers who wish to see this ONE WOMAN FARM brought to naught. Elevate her pig shares, moves her mountains and still her thongs. Delete
    2. I've just ordered a half pig from a local butcher and I don't pay for it until the hook weight is.known (I'm charged a set price per kg of hook weight). Is pre-pay the norm for the way Jenna does it?

      Delete
    3. As an accountant I say no. No unless you get a good discount and are buying from a legitimate farmer with references.
CSA's or meat shares are a big gamble. I signed up for a CSA a few years back, which was run by a couple who hired on their help and grew,or were supposed to, a ton of food. I overpaid- $600 for a share every other week for 10 weeks. For around here, rural small area, that is expensive. I read all the fine print and felt that even if the weather was bad- too much or too little rain and bugs etc. I'd get something. I didn't.

What the backers got was what was left over after all the nice stuff was taken out and sent to Farmer's Market for even bigger $. So lesson learned some that run CSA's are unethical- it was nothing weather related whatsoever. Yet, I kept on trying on local CSA's and finally found one that was affordable and had great people running it. Even with a slight period of drought we all got something each week and some weeks way more than what was promised.

To pay up front for a pig share from anyone is going to be risky. I might if the farmer was a successful farmer and I believed he would still own his farm, or at least honor his commitment to me next spring or summer if he didn't. I would do it if the person I was giving the money to was someone I deemed ethical and kept their word or someone who had real verified reviews or references. It is not the norm where I live to buy a pig share way in advance like JW offers. I've bought meat for years from local butchering houses and never heard of prepaid pig or beef shares. The risk would be very high and with someone like JW, who has no references/reviews,a bad reputation for keeping $ and considering it a donation, and not caring for her livestock adequately-even the very basic things. NEVER EVER.

      Delete
    4. Is she not collecting money for pigs to be bought in the Spring? Meaning you're getting pork, like, late summer? Not really sure on her timeline but it seems she means the money is for piglets that will be purchased in 3-4 months minimum. That's not really the idea behind a CSA. That's more of a Ponzi scheme. And no way would I pay her in full for any farm product --- what's to say she won't get foreclosed on in the meantime?

      Delete
    5. Exactly. She's not buying them till the spring and it'll be almost a year before they get the meat! For that risk you're better off going to the grocery store. Buy 300$ or so of pork and put it in the freezer. Never trust someone trying to pay today's bills with next year's earnings.

      Delete
    6. Eggxactly! It's probably cheaper and more ethical to just go to Whole Foods and be ripped off than dump money into her CSA - "Criminal Scam Activity"

      Delete
    7. We've been getting pig and turkey from a local farmer for years - a very ethical person. I like knowing my meat is clean and the animal was treated humanely. Turkeys are being slaughtered this weekend - we have two on reserve and pay when we pick up. With the pigs, we pay 1/3 at the beginning, 1/3 half way thru, and the remainder at pickup - so we are contributing to the cost of raising the pigs while they're being raised. I'm good with that - excellent meat and he doesn't sell me half an animal and then sell half of that half to someone else which is what Jenna seems to do. I do take my chances as to what size the pig dresses out to, but I have never been disappointed or shorted. How people keep buying from her with her terrible history is amazing to me. One born every minute.

I took advantage of this, since I don’t have a chicken plucker or scalded, the $9 to have three fat roosters readied for Freezer Camp seemed like an amazing deal."

Didn't Jenna host backyard poultry butchering workshops with herself as the instructor? Now she doesn't have the means to butcher poultry? What's changed since she charged people to teach them to do just that?

$3 a bird isn't a deal for something you can Do yourself when you're not getting paid more than $3 to do something else.

    4. What changed since then?
L.A.Z.I.N.E.S.S. has set in. The bloom is off the rose. The honeymoon is over. This isn't "fun" anymore. "The last two years I've (JW) learned I can make just as much money talking about as doing it, and it's a lot less dirty." "With of course the main plus being I can watch Netflix or spend a gazillion hours on Twitter at the same time-- That's also how I do my logo commissions and my Guardian submissions.

      Delete
    5. I'm also surprised yet not surprised she pays someone else to butcher her chickens-- especially just a few. Isn't the whole point of homesteading that you WANT to do these things? When you get right down to it, there isn't much Jenna does like to do for herself. Which really is neither here nor there unless you've made a name for yourself as a badass, homesteading author and cashed in on the mystique of the capable female. Butchering is outsourced. Small repairs and building jobs are done by Patty and friends. Simple truck repairs are not even attempted by her. Garden veggies save for kale are purchased. Where's the homesteading? Oh, yeah she milks her goats for a couple months before letting them dry up because she gets bored with it.

      Delete
    6. What about the time she plucked and cleaned a turkey by the light of her truck headlights? She must have killed that one herself. Then cleaned and dressed it for other people to eat. Hope no one got sick on that.

      Delete
    7. Hound, Doggy, Jenna made herself sick from campylobacter, a common but severe illness from improperly butchered poultry. Perhaps she's "once bitten, twice shy" in butchering her own products. And that being the case, I'd say hiring someone (especially if the meat is going to someone else) is probably wise.

      Delete
  17. Remember that post about her butchering a chicken in her front yard and dissing the people who drove by because they bought their meat at the supermarket?

And who the heck butchers a chicken in their front yard unless they are screaming for attention.

  18. TRENDING: looks like this blog CAS-2 has enough strength to show up on Google almost next to CAF. peeps, this gives us a responsibility to be objective and not a bunch of middle aged drama farmars - so try to focus on the scams.
And Lord knows there are enough of them.
Also, "Growing a Farmer" is a great book that I highly recommend and I'm not even high speaking of which JW might want to think of growing - yep, marijuana, she basically can only grow weeds as it is.
Finely- I's let someone pluck me if it was only 3 bucks, sounds like the Tribe should raise their prices if ol JW is bragging about that deal on the WWW
    Later!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Whoever called JW's pork CSA a Ponzi scheme is spot on. She is not buying the pigs now. She needs the money for living expenses, entertainment, Rag & Bone jeans and who knows what else.

That money will be long gone by next month, let alone next spring. Whoever is considering buying, consider yourself warned.

And if you get stiffed, there will be no refund or apology. You will be told that there is risk, although the risk will be all yours.

Several years ago, I emailed her during one of her 'wolves at the door' crises. I suggested she get a job, even if it was part time. She emailed back and said she could make $1,000 in an instant selling pork shares.

She takes the money upfront, spends it, then figures out later how to make good. Sometimes she does, and sometimes she does not.

Think wool & webinar CSA, Birththorn, or the people who have complained about not getting their logo.

    4. I can't believe she can ever make any sales. If you look around online, almost anyone who does paintings or logo design/branding packages does way better stuff for far less money. Etsy is a treasure trove of real artists doing much more work for much less money. Beautiful watercolor paintings on watercolor paper, matted and ready to frame for $35, for example. Her quick scribbles with a dab of color over $100. Anyone would be crazy to pay her over inflated prices.

    1. She doesn't really care anymore about CAF. She may have at one time for about 4 books worth. After that not so much anymore, and now not at all. It has however been a grand way for her to milk the masses for $. The people really believe or once believed in her who just don't want to admit that they've been had. It takes about 48 hours on her FB to see she isn't what she once advertised to be and made $ from. Less if you read her blog.

As far as the clan, that was her shiny new penny, and if she could have written and published 4 memoirs from it she would have. Instead she spent all her time writing up rules, building websites and using the people who joined as her personal assistants/$- stacking wood and buying bees. I wonder if any of the clan that put $ into the bees and hive were given any of the proceeds? According to Jenna this past fall it was going to be a banner harvest..

    1. It's also laughable because Jenna doesn't see much $ from book sales. She said a while back that the bulk of the $ is in the advance and then she gets a small percentage of book sales. She'd rather everyone just hit that donate button!!

    2. When a writer gets an advance they have to sell enough books to make back the advance before they get another dime, basically paying back the publisher for the advance.

Followers at one time were 699, then they dropped to 629 and rallied once FB friends began dropping. They are now at 635. Approximately 117 friends and followers in a month's time poof! One only needs to remember that at any given time blog comments are 1-5 comments, and there are some posts with zero. FB comments, depending on topic, can be 15-30 comments long. Most though are 1-5 comments now vs. at one time every post had a dozen comments. If she's lost over 100 friends/followers and has no intention of stopping her conversations/meme's about politics I imagine she will lose even more. Soon there will be many FB posts with zero and blog counts and comments dwindling even further down. From that come advertisers leaving or no re-upping, and when the wolf cry goes out lesser and lesser people falling for it until--there are none.

Pretty short-sighted and stupid if you ask me. Long term it means she either goes back to work, devises a fresh new scheme that is highly successful, gets married to someone who is very wealthy and generous or declares bankruptcy and moves back home. She's basically ruined the whole homesteader/farmer/badass this and that with corruption, greed, short-sightedness, and her general lack of desire/willingness to be able to fake it until she makes it. She's too lazy and too self-entitled to do something without a lot of help$.

    Hi Jenna,

I am glad to hear that you are not going anywhere!!! I love your work, and your dreams of running a farm..those are my dreams too, and not many people have dreams or views like that. I believe that hard times keep us going...if we all had millions we would be board all the time!! I love struggles, and they do make us stronger.

As far as the politics thing goes...we are all adults...except for those people who are childish enough to cut off contact because someone does not have the same views as they...that is the silliest thing I have ever heard!!
I will continue to read everything you put out,
Not because we have the same political views, but because you are an awesome writer, and I am sure you do great logos too :).

Anyone who cares to fact-check me can scroll through all of the historic Wool CSA debates, you'll see I was the only one that stood up for her with actual facts. I sure am glad she respects her clients.... what a superb business model.

  32. I'm sure that she reads here now, since her latest post addresses giving gratitude to donors. It also sounds like Jenna is starting to be scared, given her childish ranting on social media lately.

  33. I think she's making yet another mistake in assuming that the people who did stick around on her FB page want to hear her political rants.
I voted for Hillary but that doesn't mean I am interested in every political post out there. Honestly it is very overwhelming. I could see some of her followers leaving simply because they want homesteading posts, not political Jenna posts.

  34. If she posts that "muscle man" pose of herself again, I'm going to barf. It is not attractive. Nor do you look fit. You look disproportionate and it looks like some sort of physical disability that your parents failed to tell you about as a child.
    Socially, Jenna is completely clueless.

  35. She is such a rotter. Every post, explicitly or not is a begging session. She loves to label herself a sheep farmer, for instance, whenever it is convenient for her at the moment. She is scrappy and strong and does it all on her own, scrambling to figure things out one day, and is humbly at the helm of the community project called cold antler farm the next, waiting for a contribution for the service her words and pictures bestows upon the readers.

  36. Don't know about you all, but my friends and I cannot believe it's just a few days before Thanksgiving with Christmas around the corner. I think that realization will separate a lot of people from the daily mashinations from CAF. They will be too busy with holiday shopping and family stuff, which will translate into lower readership and less money. Could get ugly out there on the farm.

  37. Remember the big to do about how she has to sleep in front of her stove during the cold months because the upstairs isn't heated? Yet in a recent blog post she complains of waking up to a chill because the stove fire went out at 2 am. Um, aren't you right in front of it. You couldn't throw a few logs in?
Or are you, Jenna, completely full of shit as usual sleeping in your well heated bedroom upstairs?
If someone will lie about such asinine things, just imagine what else they are lying about.

  38. Regarding the loss of readership/unfriending over politics: she's making a mountain out of a molehill. With 3K FB friends you would expect to lose some when you make political posts-- especially when you order people off your page! Really, she lost less than a 100 "friends"-- that's a tiny fraction of the total. So what. I agree with the poster above, people may just be tired of the onslaught of politics in their feeds from everyone. It IS overwhelming. It's been a deluge for the last 6 months or more. Furthermore, people have an expectation of reading about homesteading when they friend the author of a homesteading blog/books-- probably an unpleasant surprise for some when they discover it's a steady stream of pop culture and, lately, politics. In the end, I think it was more the way she chose to approach it and the way she treated people who didn't agree.

Also, I think she's a butt hole for making such a drama about it all. The consequences of the election could have much larger ramifications for so many people but here's Jenna, mewling about getting defriended.

    1. It would be a significant issue if say Jenna has a steady 35 enablers a month and 27 of them unfriended her. It is all in how you look at it. If even 2 unfriended her that usually answer all her calls- she either has to get two or more back just as faithful or she's down two. Yes she has 3000 followers but many never see her posts or acknowledge the "friendship". I have people on my friend's list who have never acknowledged a post I've put up, but have been "friends" for over 5 years. In settings you can completely ignore a friend's post if you so desire and keep them on your friends list. These people were told to go- that's a pretty nasty thing to say. Pot calling kettle black to be mad about the president-elect and everything about him and then behave in such a way (pretty much how the president-elect behaves) toward potential readers and donors. smh

  39. I just can’t anymore. I was one of the people who unfriended her recently due to her post. Please, allow me to explain. I honestly don’t care who people voted for, I really don’t.
Early on in this election cycle, I made a decision that I would only unfriend people if they made a statement, which basically said, “If you don’t agree with my personal political views 100%, without question take yourself off my page. I don’t want to be friends with people like you.”
I work full time as a writer and editor. I follow and support a lot of authors and artists. Many are also homesteaders. The total amount of people/friends I unfriended was one.
I took a look at her Facebook page today. All I saw was a homesteading, farming woman, who has time to not only spend nearly ½ hour doing her eyebrows, but also the time to make sure everyone knows about it. A woman with her own truck, having a friend deliver a goat in their new vehicle.
I also saw was a woman claims to be scared. I truly hope that the most frightening thing that ever happens to her, is that her chosen candidate didn’t win.
There are true terrors in the world, there’s sickness and death of loved ones, (not to mention yourself) there’s also destruction and loss of property.
It’s no skin off my nose, that I unfriended her. However, it will affect her, however small. I bought many of her books. I also donated money at least three times.
I originally followed her because I thought she was doing something interesting in the homesteading community. I’m pretty sure it’s been years since she’s done anything at all. I’m also tired of post after post that swings wildly from I’m a badass farmer to I’m scared, the wolves are at the door. Like I said in the beginning, I just can’t anymore.

  40. Again, it's Jenna doing the blocking. Seriously cannot wrap my head around what she hopes to gain by posting political content if she's so fragile she can't tolerate the thoughts/comments of others. Notice also how strangers are being cast as undesirables when it's that same group of people that magically fund her lazy-ass existence. Strangers sending cash? Very Good. Strangers defending Mike Pence? Blocked!

Jenna Woginrich: starting to block people. Friends and family can bitch here, not strangers.

    2. Aside from the very fact most real farmers, homesteaders and/or fairly smart people know she's been scamming all this while--she is definitely not a good representative of a strong independent woman. If you can't take a few opinions that are not your own, after you bring up politics you're immature. Who does that kind of thing except an immature child begging for attention? At her age she should be now, as dependent on strangers as she is for everything, how to play nice.
In college for most of the programs offered you will be in several course that will teach you proper discourse and you will learn to tolerate well other people's opinions & accept and/or tolerate other people's views and perspectives. This helps you work well with others, helps you work well with diverse work forces and also to work within your own community, whatever that may be, to be a successful contributor. Maybe she missed those courses when she attended college or graphic design students don't need to take them? I guess this is probably the main reason she doesn't have but one or two friends she failed at her heathen clan attempt, she's not married and not employed and is not on good ground with family. She is obviously too immature and dependent on charity to realize that you don't get to voice much of an opinion or treat your donors like crap when you depend on them for your very survival. The one thing Jenna should be spending her time on this Thanksgiving week is, whether she celebrates it or not, is thanking her donors and eating a nice big piece of humble pie.
